This is quite an early work by Lowry.
His style had not yet matured into what we now recognize as a classic drawing.
The pencil strokes are much lighter and the overall feeling of the sketch does not have the same resonance as his work in the 1960s and 970s.
It i a relatively unusual scene for Lowr to sketch,
'A garden party' does not resonate with the industrial scenes and hardships that he encountered and drew in his later paintings.
It must be noted that the above selling price is very much outdated by today's standards.
and unlike the signed limited edition prints, drawings aways require a good provenance
