The Standard Class 9F represents all those steam locomotives still in British Rail service at the end of steam in the south of England in 1967
when, in spite of lack of maintenance and running in appalling external condition, they still gave loyal service, albeit on humble freight duties.
No. 92203 was subsequently purchased by David Shepherd and, named 'Black Prince', is now fully restored and based on the East Somerset Railway.
